Why does fog appear while swimming?
During swimming, heat and moisture from your face build up inside the goggles. When this warm, humid air comes into contact with a cooler lens, the moisture turns into tiny droplets that scatter light and reduce visibility.
Fogging is more likely during longer swims, in colder water, or when goggles are taken off and put back on multiple times. Temperature differences between your face, the water, and the surrounding air all play a role.

Almost all other swim goggles rely on a basic anti-fog layer applied to the lens.
This layer is not part of the lens itself. It sits on top of the surface and gradually wears off during normal use due to:
- constant contact with water
- wiping or touching the lens
- repeated use over time
Once this layer weakens, moisture can form droplets — and fog returns.
That is also why improvised fixes like anti-fog sprays, spitting or baby shampoo don’t solve the problem. They may briefly affect the surface, but they wash away almost immediately and offer no real control.

Before swimming, lightly wet the inside of the lens and gently wipe it with your fingertip a few times. This helps activate the hydrophilic surface so it can manage moisture effectively during your swim.
After wiping, rinse the lens with water and put the goggles on.
